Record numbers attend Monday Night Football!

Record numbers attend Monday Night Football! New record attendance set for Charity’s free weekly open-access football club.

Many of the Charity’s sessions are created in response to what we feel the local community needs at any given time. The Monday Night Football was no exception to this school of thought. We created Monday Night Football over four years ago now, as we attempted to provide continuity to the young people we were mentoring at the time once their one-to-one sessions had come to an end. The weekly sessions are free to attend and open-access, resulting in all-ages, capacities and backgrounds attending the sessions. The sessions have gone from strength to strength over the years, so much so we have created a Kindness Festival, which incorporates the match as the main event in an annual celebration of the Monday Night Football. You can read more about that here. N

onetheless, it was great to witness a record attendance at the weekly sessions recently, as just over 30 young people attended, ranging in ages from 5-33 years-old. There is minimal refereeing to the matches, no scoreline recorded and even fewer offside counts! But there is plenty of laughs, pantomime acts and chaos within the court where the sessions occur. We’d like to place on record our thanks to all that have ever attended the Monday Night Football and who have indirectly enabled it to continue to be a great success year upon year. Should you wish to attend, then just pop down to courts at Dragonfly Leisure in Midsomer Norton every Monday 16:00-17:00 - come rain or shine we shall be there! Alternatively, you can email here for more information should you wish before coming down.
